I have a 2008 F350 with keyless entry, that I am installing a compustar alarm/starter combo.
It all seems to be working fine but the locks are not opening/closing.
I have tapped into the:
Power Unlock: yellow/purple
Power lock: blue/green
On the drivers side sill harness?
Any ideas? or suggestions?
Thanks

The wire colors sound correct but did you verify the function of those wires before 'tapping' into them?
Does the Compustar unit you have use internal door lock relays? If it does, did you ground the inputs to those relays?

There are more than one of each of those wire colors in the loom. Also, the Compustar systems do not need relays to activate the door locks as the (-) trigger is enough from the CPU to trigger the locks and unlock. Make sure that you use the BLUE/BLACK and the BLUE wire from the door lock harness.

Yes there are two sets of those colors listed in the door sill. So you are saying they should be BLUE/BLACK and BLUE .......... so the wiring information on installz must be incorrect?
I am assuming these 2 are also in the door sill loom?
Thank you for your help. Highly appreciated. ------------- 08' F350 CrewCab

The BLUE/BLACK and the BLUE are the wires from the Compustar unit not the truck. The truck door lock wires are there but I was saying that there are more than one set of each of those colors in the loom. Make sure that you tested the wires prior to connecting to them to make sure that you have the proper ones.

It may be you will need to wire relays for reversal rest at ground. Double check connections to see if the unit is putting out ground to those wires.
------------- The wire I'm test'n isn't doin' what it's supposed to be doin'... I am so glad I printed that tech sheet, with the wrong info.
Do it right the first time... or I might have to fix it for ya

You were correct Jeff. In my haste I connected it to the first pair of wires I found. There are two pairs. Worked perfectly. Thank you.
I have a couple of questions related to this install.
1. This vehicle uses keyless entry. Is there a way to tap into it in order to disarm the compustar alarm with it?
2. One of the special options on this Pro series compustar requires a module to modify the option (ex. op500). Is it possible to make a work around to program the module with out the programmer?
Thanks again everyone. ------------- 08' F350 CrewCab

Is it possible to make a work around to program the module with out the programmer? you will need the bitwriter OP500 by compustar. this can only be bought if your an authorized dealer. If you head to a bestbuy or local car shop, they should be able to program it for maybe a small fee.

Thanks guys.
I can't imagine why someone hasn't created a third party 'box' to allow the keypad entry feature to disarm the aftermarket alarm systems? oh well?
Last question? How about triggering the heated seats? Any way to do that?

if you used a CAN SL2, heated seats, morrors and rear defrost would be turned on through data when the engine is below freezing.

The CANSL2 does not support the Ford F350 for CANBUS control. ------------- Jeff

Ok..... one last little annoyance.
When I lock the doors the F350 has a dome light delay approximately 30 seconds.
The compustar indicates that the doors are still open if I hit lock when the dome light is on. It seems to arm the doors after a set amount of time. No false alarms thank goodness.
Every install wiring I have seen says to tap into the all door trigger wire on the passenger A pillar. (yellow/gray).... but it has this 30 second issue.
I did read that there may be a wire that locks/turns off the dome light all at once? I could wire the door lock to that and that would prevent the ~30 second dome light delay?
Is there such a wire? If so ... where?
Thanks

Triggering PURPLE / green, AND YELLOW /GREEN at the same time (NEG)- found in the drivers kick (huge harness) will lock and arm factory. and turn off dome light. Diode isolate these wires. They are connected to the 7/8 and 9/0 on the door keypad. -------------

It's even easier than that. If you have a Compustar PRO you can set the system to AUTO and it will arm when the dome light delay turns off or have it set to 45 seconds.
MENU 3- Option 03
Dome Light Delay
OPTION 1 Off
OPTION 2 5 sec
OPTION 3 45 sec
OPTION 4 Auto
