Hello, I am wondering if anyone has heard of or come across a key chain/fob with the name Identity on it. To me it looks like a transmitter of some sort. Anyways, the owner of the vehicle says that he needs the transmitter on his key in order for his truck to start. 06 ram 1500 is what he has.
I have. His best bet is to just get rid of it. You need to find the starter relay of the vehicle. should be in the fusebox under the hood. There will be a relay with a small wire coming off of it. Replace that relay with a factory relay. That's all there is to it. There isn't much support for this product anymore, so you will probably have a tough time finding another transmitter. Check ebay.

Suppose the owner of the truck wanted a remote start installed, would i need that transmitter to be in the vehicle?
There is one way around it, without having to remove it.. The relay with the wire on it, is basically a receiver, which kills the starter. The fob is the transmitter. It only sends out a rf signal when it is being moved around....say when it's in a pocket, or in your hand. If you just put it in the vehicle, it would never send a signal to the relay, which would stop the remote start from working........unless you tied into the starter wire on the starter side of the relay...which you will probably have to catch out under the hood....depends on where the relay is.
The first thing i would do, is find out exactly where the identity relay is.
