Can anyone please post the Wiring specs for the 2008 Scion TC.

I know there is a post with the 07 specs, i dont know if they are the same,
Also, i looked at them and dont see any mention to a iginition key immobilizer, i seem to recall the dealer telling my g/f when she bought the car
That the car doesnt have an alarm but it has a Iginition key immobilizer, im assuming like the dodge/ford VATS type systems,
i need to know if i need to buy a bypass module from viper, and if so, which one..

Thanks for all you help

fred

Thank you so much for the update

I just printed out the 07 specs

I have done tons of remote starts on all of my own cars and friends cars, i will admit however, the scion has me wondering
What the heck is the Starter 2 wire?
what is it for?
I am planning on doing my g/fs car tonight, im going to check everything with a multimeter of course, but im very curous as to if anyone can explain that wire to me.

thanks

fred

the tC has 2 starter wires, hook them both up.

Hi Fred, the second starter wire is basically another wire that needs to see 12 volts crank at the same time as the other starter wire, make sure you use a relay and not the same wire to wire up both starter wires.

the scion - toyota and nissans both use second starter wires because it helps inject more fuel and allow more current for the starter motor. isolate each wire. to wire up your second start wire, and wire it up ike so

85 - ground when running
86 - starter wire (1) - simply tap off first starter wire
87 - constant 12v high current fused at 20 amp fuse
30 - second starter wire

so if you didn't have the second starter wire connected what would the car do?

the car will still start, but it wont start properly in the winter. the startor motor might not gen enough current to start.

85 - ground when running
86 - starter wire (1) - simply tap off first starter wire
87 - constant 12v high current fused at 20 amp fuse
30 - second starter wire

Ok, well I'm working on a 2007 Scion tC and I don't have this hooked up. I gotta go run out and get a relay. is there a part number for this? Nobody around here knows what I'm talking about. Also do I need any diodes to hook this up? Last question, when I try to r/s the car the ignition comes on then shuts off immediately. Shutdown diagnostics flashes 6 times and say (-) shutdown but everything is grounded and the neutral safety switch is in the right position. I need help. HAHA

Hi wsc75,

Most remote starters have a second output for "IGN, ACC, OR STARTER", if you use the second starter output, you don't need a relay; just follows the remote starter instructions on how to use that output.

I was gonna do that, but that wire is a (-) wire and the cars second starter wire is a (+)

either way I hook it up i still cant get it to start. what does (-) shutdown mean?

you can wire up the additional relay by two methods.

IF YOUR UNIT HAS A NEG (-)  250mA OPTIONAL OUPUT FOR ACC, START, IGN

85 - constant 12v
86 - 250mA (-) output from unit
87 - high current 12v
30 - to second starter wire on car

OTHER METHOD

85 - ground out when running from unit
86 - start wire from car - just splice into the starter wire
87 - high current 12v
30 - to second starter wire on car

i suggest you use the first method, its always easier and more reliable IMO.

now, your (-) shutdown diagnostics, open up your hood, and look to see if your hood pin is touching ground. if it is make sure it has clearance and it should start. Another possibility is the E-brake wire.tkea the E-brake wire and wire it straight to ground. this is the only reasons i could come up with if your unit gaves a negative shutdown diagnostics.
