I installed a remote start for a friend of mine at work last week.  The remote start definately works, because I tested with the key stuck in the ignition.  He didnt want to lose his spare key, so I had him get the xk04 bypass module.  I believe it came with the pkford firmware on it which im not sure is right or not.  I called tech support and they told me that the website lists the wrong firmware for that vehicle and I should use the pkford not pkf3.  Has anyone successfully done this car with the xk04, I cannot get this to program!  I have used this module more than 5 times with no problems, and I dont nkow if im havin a car issue or if its a bad bypass.

I recently did a 2005 Taurus that the XK04 would not work.I went and reloaded the firmware(don't remember which version) and it took right off.

I did an '08 Fusion a few weeks ago with an XK04. On that one there was def. a problem with the PKFORD firmware not working.  Their knowledge base on bypasskit.com has quite a few articles on late-model (like '06-up) Fords needing the PKF3 firmware and not the PKFORD...also when using PKF3 it needs the orange connected to 12v+ ignition switched.

Read the instructions carefully as well...it's kind of weird how it programs, the theft light will flash like it hasn't programmed, you wait 2 minutes, start it with the key, and then remote start and it works.

in my experience, i have never had 100% good luck with using modules on fany ford vehicles.  we usually go to the ford dealership and buy blank keys-  over the counter as-is, they sell em to us for about 20 bucks a piece.  you can either cut them and program them to the car (two working keys are required, but no tools), or we usually program them uncut using the remote start to code them to vehicle.  then, toss the coded key into a universal transponder box (directed: 556uw/ compustars: computran/ etc).      that is probably the most reliable way to override the anti theft onford vehicles.  it will always work, no bs with firmware upgrades, no programming to be lost, etc.

I've had bad luck with the key wrap or box or transponder in a box method with Ford products.the xk04 I just did in a 2008 fusion was absolutely easy.I have had a glitch or 2 but the xk04 has been normally good.

You must live somewhere warm roo-dog, because every winter in KC  I end up replacing at least 10 key wrap bypasses.  I use the keyoveride-all, made by Fortin now, and have not had a single failure. Easy to install, and easy to program.

I second the negative feelings toward RF override on Ford products...whether it's a self-contained transponder(555F,555S) or a key in box type, they lose a ton of tolerance for bad positioning when they get cold.
