Hey guys-

Installing a remote start in a 2008 Chevy Silverado (not classic).

I am having trouble getting the truck to start. Does anyone know the proper way to interface with the start wire using relays and resistors? I have read elsewhere that the start wire requires a 1300 Ohm resistor during remote start.

I do have 1605 tech document, however I do not have a XCRS relay pack. Therefore I am not sure how to connect the wires.

I am using the XK01 bypass to get around the PK3+ system.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

From the look of the xk01 diagram it doesn't do the pk3 bypass. Also
your vehicle has a hybrid style of pk3. You would need an xk06 or a pkugm2x both are available from bypasskit.com.

The PK01 bypass is also listed however for this vehicle on bypasskit.com
Wouldn't this work then? We have it programmed with the GMDL6X Firmware.

Also, am i just an idiot or is the XCRS Relay pack in the Directech document 1605 just the main wiring harness off the remote start? Therefore I would just have to hook up the wires just as listed in this document, correct?

The wiring in that document looks to be the output wires on the xcrs what system are you installing?

i am installing an autostart 1452V

autostart tech documents had me hook up two relays that essentially passed a 1300 Ohm resistance into the data starter wire. I dont have this diagram with me at the moment unfortunately

I've been looking for a wiring diagram for one of these for the past couple months.  Can you send one to me?

It looks like you would need the relays hooked up like this
85 to positve starter
86 to ground out when running
87 to 12 volts
30 to pink/black through 9.6k ohm resistor

85 to positive 2nd acc
86 to ground out when running
87 to 12 volts
30 to pink/black through 6.3k ohm resistor

That should work but i'm not a hundred percent those are the values that directechs lists

back in the shop this morning...

the theft light comes on after i try to remote start, would this be a bypass issue then?  Or could it be related to the starter wire?

This is a bypass issue with the resistance on the PINK/BLACK wire ( if you used a homemade relay pack )

Hey guys. I,ve got one of these coming in(08 Silverado). Have you guys got wiring info for it. I hear the locks and all are hard to do. Will the XK06 do both the locks and PK3 bypass? Thanks

that is what i figured. what is the correct resistance to use on this wire, and what is the best possible way to hook it up.

Or is there a bypass that would take care of this for me?

I apologize as I am a little new to remote starts and unfortunately I am the only tech at my shop, so troubleshooting is a little hard.

Not sure if this got posted correctly the first time. Also have a 08 Silverado coming in on Sat.
Will the XK06 do the transponder bypass as well as the locks? I heard the locks and some other stuff on this vehicle require extra wiring. Could someone provide a wiring diag. for remote start/alarm. Thanks

I would suggest for everyone who's posted that they've got upcoming '07-up Silverado RS installs that you look into the DEI 1701G - you can get it through BypassKit now and it's quite a kickass piece(surprisingly enough for DEI). I used one on an '07 Silverado and IIRC it gives you brake, hoodpin, tach, lock/unlock/driver's priority, arm/disarm, PK3+ override; no running through the firewall and the only connections to the car were data wire, constant 12v+, the ignition switch wires, parklights, and ground. Cost less than an XK01 and XK06 combined as well.

i have 2 friends that work in chevy dealers that do a ton of trucks and s.u.v.s(tahoes suburbans)and they have hadnoissues programking an extra pk3 circle + key and placing that in a universal bypass, and not hooking up the starter wire or the key sense, just ign, accessory, brake, lights, power, ground and have had no issues in 2 yrs, have alsohad guys doing it with the starter wire thru 1300 ohm resistor and using a relay to drive keysense, only talked to 1 guy who has used d.e.i.s method with start thru 9k and accessory thru 6k on white wire(or something like that lkea chrysler) so this vehicle seems tobe gmsfirst attempt at baffling us all as theres no logical reason why all 3 ways work ive got a couple to do this weekend and im gonna do em the way my chevy mechanic installers do em and ill post the results

I use the CAN-SL2 (Firmware 12.0 or higher) with real good results.

i use the xk01 and xk06 perfect results everytime. i do about 6 to 8 of these a week between three dealerships. 1701g is pretty cool cuz you can
activate the factory remote start with a aftermarket alarm. but if your doing a aftermarket remote start you still have to do the relays and resistors with this module, and sometimes not fun to program

hey guys did one last night, no issues, used a pk3 circle+ key, coded it and put it in an astcbm(audiovox)just used pink(ign) brown(accessory) at switch, lt blue _ pk lites at light switch, PURPLE / white brake shut down at brake switch, power at RED / blk behind fuse box, no tach no starter wire, piece of cake as my gm guys said it was

Why does it take 2/both modules?  I was under the impression you only needed 1 of them.  I'm about to do one(it's in the garage now) and the more I read, the more confused I get with this thing.  I have the XK01 withe the GMDL6X firmware loaded.  Is this the correct one or not?  Also, what resistors are needed on what wires with this unit?  I can get the XK06 in a few days if that one is better.  I would really appreciate some clarification/help on this.  I don't want to have the guy's truck overnight and can't do anything with it.

the xk06 with gmdl6x will do lock, unlock, factory alarm arm and disarm,
door triggers, hood trigger via databus. you dont have to use this module, but if you dont have fun with the locks unless it doesnt have power windows. the xk06 takes care of the transponder and the need for resistors, relay and a extra key

hey guys update, did another 08 silverado, and it was stupid simple! LOL
just did it same as my earlier post and all is fine works like a charm, you can buy the keys from howardkeys.com for like 10 bucks a piece and they so far work on almost every gm except ventures and other minivans, some cads and pont i thinkcheck out their site pretty good selection of keys

just as an update to anyone who reads this thread or was following.

I was able to finish the install today using the XK06 bypass module. Hooked it up just as it showed and it worked first time. I dont know why I couldn't get the XK01 to function properly, but the XK06 made it quite easy.
