Hi all, I have a 2008 silverado hd diesel. I was wondering if there is an alarm that will allow me to install an after market alarm and retain my factory installed remote start and use my factory remote for both. Or if there is an add-on that will add a shock sensor and hood pins to my existing factory alarm. TIA.

dei offers a few addon units that allow you to remote start with the factory remote. im not sure if its possibe to add on an aftermarket alam and use that auxillary output to control the factory remote start sequence on the trunk

I am wondering Glenbo, what kind of range (real range, not whats in print) does that thing give you?

Not much, probably about 100 feet. I tested it at a parking lot in an open area. It's a lot shorter than that indoors of course.

If it's enough, you can use the Automate AM1 made by DEI, or Pursuit's PRO9233. I like the 9233 much better, it will work directly off the remote you are currently using...

if you dont care about keeping factory remotes and want to get a long range alarm just use any alarm with a 1701g you can trigger your factory
remote start through that module and you will get alot better range too for the remote start also. if you are concerned about keeping your factory remotes than just use a pro9233 like Mike M2 said, they work great i use them all the time. if you are just looking for a shock sensor then just get a silencer ala95fke, very easy install and will work with your existing remotes and rs. the truck already has a hood pin installed
