I have a 2001 Monte Carlo SS with the factory security system. I have a very limited range, at best I have to stand at the side view mirrors to get the remote keyless entry to work. I have replaced the batteries and even tried the whole chin thing. I think that the remote keyless entry antenna has gotten disloged or something, but i can't find any information as to where the location of it is. Does anyone have any suggestions for fixes or know where the RKE antenna is located?
Thanks
I doubt if the antenna for the factory keyless got lose or went bad cleaning the pcb with quick dry electronics cleaner might help. I think your remote is probably bad. By the time you get done fighting with(or paying for troubleshooting/repairs) you might as well put in a remote start with keyless. You will get much better operating range, and a remote start to boot.

Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.
There is NO OEM antenna- it is part of the RCDLR module (remote control door lock receiver). which is at top left of center of dash.
Did you aver receive a low battery warning? -- otherwise I agree- the transmitter is no good.....anything on your dash- other electronics- like navigation system etc???? may be interferring if you have something there....
Keyless Transmitter Low Battery Warning
The Drivers Message Center will display a warning light if the Keyless Transmitter battery becomes low. Refer to Transmitter Battery Replacement for battery replacement procedures.

Thanks everyone, I had a feeling that the antenna was built into the unit. The fobs have full batteries, that was the first thing we did. Guess they're just pieces.
Thanks again,
