Hi guys,

I was wondering if the key sense wire needs to be connected to the remote starter? Or would the remote starter work without the key sense wire?

Thank you.

The vehicle is a 1996 VW jetta, 5 speed. Also is there a neutral safety switch for the vehicle? The car starts without pressing the clutch down. So i guess its almost the same as an automatic.

You need to install a system that is manual safe. The key sense wire is needed if you want to turn on the radio with remote start.  You wil just need to unlock the doors before remote start and lock after.

if the vehicle has a factory alarm system, then yes you will have to unlock before remote start because the alarm is controlled through the lock and unlock

ohh ok, the remote starter/alarm has a arm/disarm output which is the same as lock/unlock (unlock require a double pulse though) so i guess i can hook it up to the same wire as the lock and unlock outputs. Would i need to use a diode to prevent feedback? The outputs from the remote starter are both (-) and i will be using a relay to connect it to the door lock becuase it is a (+)

Thanks

hook up your lock/unlock outputs from the relays to your vehicle wires and program double pulse unlock and unlock before lock after start. What kind of system are you installing?
