My buddy has a 94 jeep cherokee with a factory security system. He left his lights on tonite and went back to the car to find the security system going off. He tried to start the car but the battery was too dead. We tried to jump it, but the starter kill was on.(Also the security dash was on) This has happened before and you just have to leave it for 10-12 hours and then it works again.

Is there a way to get rid of the factory security so this problem doesn't happen again?

Also, in daily driving, none of his lights work in the dash(or licence plate lights) but when the security goes off they all work?!?

I know he should probably just get a new ride, but he can't for now. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!!!

First off the factory security should not have a starter kill. So its most likely an aftermarket system. But if its the case of factory security than look for a GREEN/ orange wire in the drivers kick panel. Test that it goes to ground when turning the key in the door to unlock. If so then ground the GREEN/ orange wire and it will never rearm the system.

Sorry it's a grand cherokee. I grounded the security system and that worked but I am still having problems w/ the lights.
