HI, I'm new to the forum. I just bought a 2000 Civic LX to replace a car my son crashed. It has an aftermarket starter. The person who reviously owned it said he got it with the starter. So, in short I do not know who the manufacturer is. I need to get a spare remote as this one is kind of cranky (works at will). I just have a serial number at the back of the remote which is: 010704.

Does anybody know how to find out who the manufacturer is?

Yesterday, the car would not start either with the key or the remote for over 30 mins. I replaced the battery on the remote and it's still iffy. It was frustrating to say the least. Your assistance is appreciated.

Once I know who makes it, I can find the user manual and a distributor who stocks it, and can make me a spare. Thanks so much posted_image

You'll have to give more info than that - the remote start brain should have the manufacturer's name/model # on it, and be mounted underneath the driver's side dash.  There's nothing anyone can do with just the serial # on the remote.

Also I wouldn't necessarily point toward the RS as the reason why the car isn't starting with the key...it might be a more general electrical problem.

the easiest way may be to just take a pic of the remote you have and someone will probably recognize it
