Does anybody know if there is a way to increase the run time for the factory RS on a new Duramax?
It will only run for 10 min and then 1 additional 10 min.
I'm wonder if GM makes there own RS or is it an aftermarket?
Thanks,
Brad

it's neither, it's a firmware upload into the vehicles BCM and a new FOB.

there is no external starter unit in those vehicles. this mean ANY GM vehicle with the new PK3+ setup can be flashed with remote starter software.

There isn't any way to increase the run time. The only thing you can do is to add a upgrade module to it which will give you around 2,000 feet range and two way confirmation. The module is aftermarket but is designed to work with the factory remote starter.

Thanks, do you know who makes this module? Or is it through GM?

The was kind of reference here:

But I a have questions as well. It shows that it comes with the bypass module the xk01. Well that needs to be reprogrammed with proper firmware via a "bootloader" which appears to be another 100 and you have to have VIP software which I don't know if that is free. If someone has done this I would love some great detail. I have an 08 GMC Sierra 5.3L with factory remote that I would love to upgrade because they suck.

jwald,

The bootloader is not free. I think it's like $50 or something like that. If you buy it, though, the software to operate it is free, at www.xpressdownload.com.

However, unless you're a professional installer or plan on doing a lot of cars, you shouldn't need to buy the loader.

If you can find a reputable seller who knows what they're talking about, and can answer your questions, you should be able to buy the product already loaded with the correct firmware for your car.

If you look around the forum, you might see some other members who've bought these products from random online discounters, and received the product with the wrong firmware installed.

If you can find a local shop in your area that sells this stuff, it might be worth paying extra to get it from them, because they'll have the loader to configure it properly for you.
