Just want to make sure this is right.  My alarm (rattler 300) has a orange wire - output 500ma grounded when armed.  If I hook up the 3rd wire of my led scanner / YELLOW wire, this will make my scanner only come on when armed. Using a diode with the strip on the alarm side??? I am not good at car electronics.  So all your help is greatly appreciated.  ThaNX

if i remember right, i tried that from one of my units and it didnt work. i didnt use a diode. i still had enough of a ground on the orange wire and the scanner stayed on all the time.

good luck,

So this will not work.  The installation instructions just said to hook the yellow stright to the orange, but the scanner stays on all the time.  when the engine is running there is no pattern, just steady lights

since it's a rattler 300 you shouldn't be getting feedback because of the internal starter kill. So I'd think your 500mA output isn't strong enough. So try using a relay.

neg arm output (orange) - 85 , 12V fused - 86 , ground - 87 , neg wire from scanner - 30
