Hi All,
I had a DEI 4300 remote start/Alarm system installed by the Dodge dealer when I purchased the truck (06' Ram 1500 4x4)new back in Oct 2006.
Recently, sometimes when I try to "remote start" the truck it doesn't start...
The light go on but I hear a "click, click, click" (like its trying to start but not engaging the starter)and nothing happens. The car at a distance looks like its started and idling.
I step on the brake without the key in it and the lights go out like it should. At this point I would start it with the key....
Any advise?
Thanks in advance...
E

Since it was installed by the dealer it would be covered under their warranty. This sounds to me like the installer used voltage sensing instead of tach and the remote start thinks the vehicle is running even though it is not, as indicated by the lights being on and the unit shutting down when putting your foot on the brake. The click click click you are hearing is probably the relay that is controlling the parking lights as well as the relays that control the accessories and ignitions. If you take apart what they did to try and troubleshoot they may void the warranty on the unit/installation so my suggestion would be to get it to the dealer.
