I would like to have the remote start unlock driver door during remote start activation. I have a wire that is constant negative until the remote start is de-activated. I hooked it up to the unlock wire and everything works the way i would like. Will this harm the door unlock motor? Or does it half to be a - pulse?

If it works it should be fine. It's not the smartest idea in my book. Think about it, your are leaving your drive door unlocked while it is running. I bet your car gets stolen very fast.

It needs to be a pulse - unless you like crispy lock/unlock motors-- most remote starters have the programmable option to do just the opposite- lock the doors upon remote start- or remote start abort--  you could turn this feature on and wire the lock output to the unlock wires -  which is backwards--- but it would unlock the doors when remote started-  which seems kind of asking for trouble--  why not just use the key fob and unlock the doors when you request it?

I am using xk01 interface through the data cable. I would think normal operation would not work properly. The remote start module has three settings for the lock/unlock during start, but unlock during remote start is not one of them. I called the r/s company. Thats all there is for settings.. The last two r/s i have had on my trucks, unlocked during r/s. Ten years of habit. Of walking up to the truck and geting in. Theft is really not a concern.  I dont want to burn motors up. So i will need to convert it to a pulse. I didnt now if the unlock motor timed out? While the truck was runing. I manualy pushed the unlock to lock by hand . And it didnt try to unlock.

akindle, what kind of truck, and what kind of remote start? I'm going to guess Audiovox, as that's about the only thing on the market right now that has the data-to-date interface.

I can only think of two ways to do what you want to do:

1. Lose the data-to-data cable, reset the XK01 for wire-to-wire mode, and reconnect the remote starter's lock, unlock, trunk, ground-when-running to the XK01, wire to wire.

Then, take the Audiovox's BLACK/ blue "pulse before start," and also connect that to the XK01's blue unlock input.

2. Leave the XK01 as it sits. Take your BLACK/ blue "pulse before start" and hardwire it into the TRUCK'S unlock wire.

Depending on what your truck is, this might be fairly easy, or you might have to run wires into the door.......also, it will probably unlock all of the doors, instead of just the driver's door as you desire.
