siren, honda pilot with keyless

Hey Guys,

I was seeking help on installing a siren to my 2003 Honda Pilot w factory keyless entry system. I guess what I want to happen here is that I want to install a standard alarm 120db Siren to this vehicle instead of having the horn sound when I lock the doors once. I also have one of those back up sirens(w/key) laying around . Can I hook one of those up as well? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

yeap, it must be constant 12v (+)

There are 2 problems I can see with this install, unfortunately.

1. Connecting to the parking light (+) wire will activate the siren at all times when the parking lights are on.


2. 12 volts constant to the positive siren wire will probably cause it to sound full blast instead of the chirps I'm guessing you want.


Problem 1 is fairly simple to solve - you can use diodes or relays to isolate the parking light output from the rest of the circuit at the keyless module, or you can use the horn output from the keyless if you only want it to sound during lock. Since the horn is (-), run it to pin 85 and constant fused 12v to pin 86.

As for problem 2 I've never analyzed the signals on a siren output, but I'm guessing there are two ways that it chirps instead of sounding.
Either the alarm sends current through a resistor when it only wants to chirp, or it sends its full power for a fraction of a second, just long enough for the first chirp of the alarm sequence.

I would suggest you try your siren out and see which will get it to chirp, and post back with the results.

chris good reply. i was thinking that too, but i was thinking about when he was going to use his horn, the siren would BLARE as well, so i told him to do parking lights, but when his 4way emergency lights are on, its going to be loud ! i have the wire colour for the horn on the vehicle, but not the wire for horn comming off the keyless module, maybe chris can grab the colour for you.

Yes - what ideally rpmbxdj will do, especially since mentioning that the siren should take the place of the horn from keyless, is to cut the horn output wire from the keyless module, which will probably be the same color as the wire at the switch. The keyless module side of the wire will connect to the relay.

Keeping in mind of course, this will substitute the siren for horn during panic as well.

Parking lights will have the same effect as the horn if the output from the keyless mod. isn't isolated from the rest of the car, ie the siren will go off the entire time the driver switches either one on...then again a siren with your parking lights would be kinda cool (and very illegal!).

damn guys, this is sounding like i should just save myself some aggravation and get me an upgrade ALARM system to get rid of factory keyless module. I was looking for a cheaper and creative way to setup the keyless system to sound like an alarm system using what i have laying around the garage but it sounds like thats out the window..lol. btw,since we are on the subjects of adding sirens, I have a 96 civic with an autopage rs900 installed(by a reputable shop in the bronx) and it was installed with the factory horn and alarm siren sounding during alarm trigger. Now, I spliced into the red(power) wire that goes to the autopage alarm siren and hooked it up to a existing siren that was on he car when I bought it and when the alarm is activated all 3 sirens sound(which is loud and cool!) now my question is: am I gonna cause any damage to the system if I continue to use it this way, without using a relay(relay use is new to me)? Your input will be greatly appreciated...rpmbxdj
