We installed a DEI 555a remote start along with a 555u module on an 02 Ford Explorer Sport. The customer states that at times the remote start with not work. The lights flash but does not crank. I suspect this is the 555u causing this, but the other problem that has me stumped is, he also says when it fails to remote start, he is unable to start the vehicle with his key for up to 3 hours after the failed atempt. Any one have any idea on this?
Thanks..Dale

Make sure you check the activation wire on the 555U and ensure that it is cutting out it's current to the module when it fails to start. If the 555U is still active after the failed start and he attempts to start the vehicle with his key, the immobilizer will detect two coded keys.

So if the activation wire is not cutting out, is that being caused by the 555u or the 555a module? I'm thinking it's the 555u because we had the vehicle in about a week ago and had to reposition the key in it to make the remote start work when the vehicle was cold. My guess is the module is bad and needs to be replaced but I've only got one more chance to fix this for my dealer. Any further input would be very helpful.
Thanks..Dale
