i have a buick with keyless entry/factory alarm, but i am hooking up an addon alarm so that i can have the advantages of a shock sensor, parking light flash ,and if someone presses my door handle button the alarm will sound. One person answered me my question but i dont think they were completely right because i had a GM tech tell me different.I just want to know should i be hooking up the arm/disarm wires from the add on system to my car (94buickparkave)remote accesory module or my door lock motor?please help me out with correct info. i need the alarm to arm and disarm from my factory remote also my car has 25 second courtesy light how will the alarm know the doors are shut when the interior lights are still on?

It would help alot to know what unit you are putting on the vehicle! Most add on systems require the arm and disarm wires be hooked up to the motor wires of the vehicle. The system i use requires 3 connections. Assuming your vehicle is set up with two step unlock(first push of unlock opens drivers door, second push unlocks passengers door) these would be your connections. One to the lock motor, one to the unlock motor, and the third will go to second step unlock motor wire. Hooking up the second step unlock prevents somebody from breaking into the car and pushing the unlock button on the door....which would disarm the system, so basically, the only way to disarm would be with your factory transmitter.

Also, these are the motor wires you will need. Lock... Grey(+) at drivers kick in door harness. Unlock...(+)tan @ same. Unlock 2....(+)tan @ passenger kick in door harness. For the domelight delay, check the system you are using, it might come with a programmable delay feature, which will ignore the domelight for a specified amount of time. My notes also show a blue (-) wire for door trigger which should cover all doors, and will not have a delay.

thanks alot thats what another guy on 12volt said but you gave me some more technical info and dome light info ,i just wanted to make sure because i did some reaearch and i was going to hookup the arm and disarm wires from the addon (icdynamics fa-1 also valaint brand)to the rac(remote accesory control module)because that supposedly is where the facory remote gets its signal to unlock/lock when buttons are pushed and then sends that signal to the locks.
thanks again ,if you want you could comment on the rac theory too..
