Hello. I'm new here so sorry for starting out with a question instead of an answer.
I installed an alarm/remote start in my wife's 04 Yukon Denali. Everything works great except for one problem. I can't hook up the remote start without it draining the battery overnight. On the 1700G, where do I hook up the blue wire (Remote Start Status input) and the Violet/Black wire (Key Sense Input). From what I gather, the steering column wires for the key sense are the ORANGE / black (always at ground) and the light green (goes to ground when the key is in the ignition). I have hooked them up to those and it works but kills the battery overnight. It is the blue wire on the 1700G unit that is killing the battery because when I disconnect this, everything works fine and the battery does not drain. (except the remote start obviously. It starts and dies right away)
So I gues my main question is what are the correct wires (vehicle side) to attach the blue and violet/black wire on the DEI unit to. Thank you
that wire is GWR Ground When Running input it should be hook up to a source that goes ground the the remote start is active. what kind of RS are you using ?
It is an Aidiovox Prestige alarm/RS. I forgot which model but it is one of the top of the line ones. Can you give me an example of a GWR wire? Would it be a wire that is open unless the key is in the run position or would it be closed only when the engine is actually on.
Also, I actually had the blue (GWR) wire hooked up to the ORANGE / black keysense wire in the column and the remote start worked (although it killed the battery). Is the BLACK/ violet keysense wire from the 1700G even really needed? Thanks.
The GWR (Ground When Running) is a wire that provides a negative from the remote starter into the 1700G to let the bypass module know when to bypass the passlock II. If you hook it to a constant ground the module will stay on, and as you know, kill the battery. On your Audiovox unit you will have a wire that provides ground only when the remote starter is activated, hook this to the 1700G's status input wire (blue).

That worked perfectly. Thank you very much.
