hey all about three weeks ago my car was broke in to . It has the factory alarm, I want to upgrade from this.

Can any one tell me what a good alarm is for this type car.

I really would liek to have something that if they try comming up to the car to look in to it it will either go off or give a loud warning. OR somthign to help deter these kids. ( I say kids for the way this last time was done)

Also would liek to have somethign with a starter kill, windows rolling up and sun roof.

Also a battery back up of some kind.

preferably one that nobody can get aroudn but i knwo this is not a true thing.

So any help would be great.

Thanks

well as many ppl ask what is the best alarm you can buy. Everyone will have their take and opinion on this. I personally love the compustar line followed by autopage and DEI. any alarm will work in any car if wired properly. If you are willing to spend then a Compustar P2W900FM-AS is your best bet. Its a 2way alarm with alarm and remote start. Adding an addition Piezo (pain generator) siren inside will fo sure prevent any individual entering your car as the siren is VERY loud. Purchasing DEI 530t i beleive will allow your windows to roll up when you arm your car. A starter kill is very simple as it only requires a relay and most if not all units purchased on the market will come with one. Remember an alarm does not GUARENTEE that your car will NOT be stolen; its a theft deterrant and minimizes the chance for it to get stolen/broken into. YOu can get battery backups or backup sirens from DEI, but again it all depends on how much you are willing to go and spend.

tedmond, Thanks,

I am going in to this whole thing knowing that alarms are in most cases nothign more then noise makers. they are not going to stop the person that is really wanting to ge tthe car or its contents.

Im actually looking for a alarm to basically make as much noise as i can in it to give me enough time and warnning to hopefully get out there to attempt to get them out of the car or at least get a look at them so tha ti can call the police in hopes they can catch someone.

Right now i honestly think this is kids or at best really inexperinced thievs.

When they got in to the car the last time they broke the dash out of the car and then they took anythign not nailed down but the one thing they didnt take was a jump box. Anyone that is older i owuld think would have grabed it pretty fast.

they took teh speaker box, amp, and the amp for the front  and the head unit then also they missed the SAt. Radio that was in the glove box that they obvously looked in to as it was opend but nothign in it was taken.

they did how ever grab my mag light and of course the C.D. case and disk that were in it.

then they missed the change that was in the car and i am betteing that this thing holds at least 20.00 worth of .25 by its self.

but i do like the pin gen. I think it would be great to have them def LOL

at least they would find the radio would be usless as they could not hear it any more LOL

Thank you agian. I will start to do some reserch on the aboved mentioned alarms and see what we can come up with.

for sure, if you want to get warning then the 2way alarm is the way to go. the compustar i see has the best response time as it has real time communication. the second your car gets broken into a second or so later your remote will beep and you can see if a door got opened your trunk where you keep your audio or sum1 just hit it. You can always go the extra mile and add a glassbreak sensor where it detects if glass was broken.

Also to add to the suggestions that Tedmond has given,  if your wanting something to give a warning when someone gets to close you can add a proximity sensor.  It will give off a warning when someone breaks it field.

yeah that is a defeanat for me right now.

they got in threw the drivers window. If i would have had a shock sensor on it or a prox. sensor they would have set it off before they got close enough to get the stereo. Might still have the broken glass but at least i might still have some of the other things i cant replace still.
