Hi, I have an 87 Bmw 325, and I am trying to wire the parking lights to the alarm that I purchased (Compustar 2W9000FM-AS).

Parking Lights     Left = Gray / YELLOW, right = Gray/White      Gray/White R at Light Switch (+)

So, Since there are two wires (for left and right), I have been told that I have to use diodes. I have some diodes that the shop gave me to use for this purpose.

My question is how do I wire this up?

My guess is:

From the alarm 8-pin connector 1:

GREEN / WHITE (+ parking light output)


          ------>|-- Left (Gray / YELLOW)
GREEN / WHITE From Alarm ---
          ------>|-- Right (Gray/White)


Is that correct?

Connect the positive output of your alarm to the anode of both diodes.  Then connect the cathode of one diode to the left wire and the cathode of the other diode to the right wire.

Thanks, that is what I was trying to get at with my mangled diagram.

I can't wait to get this thing into my car! I am glad I just sucked it up and got a good alarm. Some cool Canada only functions too (5000' range instead of 3000', and handsfree (proximity) keyless entry) - too bad the US models are crippled.

Hi, I am trying to set up the trunk release on my alarm to unlock my trunk.

Here is my plan so far:

Car is an 87 BMW 325.

When you lock the car, I want everything to lock (including the trunk as it does from the factory)

When you unlock the car, I want everything except for the trunk to unlock.

When I hit the trunk release, I want the trunk to unlock.

Trunk lock motor:

5 wires:

GREEN/ black + yellow/black = trunk lock and unlock request (-)
brown - ground
blue = lock (+ when lock, - when unlock)
white = unlock (+ when unlock, - when lock)

I already have the trunk unlock wired to a relay to change it to a + pulse and hooked up to the white wire. That works.

My problem is that if I cut the white wire so that the trunk motor will not unlock when the doors unlock, the trunk will not lock at all because the lock circuit needs to follow blue (+) to white (-). The polarity of the wires flip flops depending on weather the car is locking or unlocking.

Basically, I need to find a way to make the white wire accept ground, but not let +12v through except for when I push the trunk release. The trunk release wire which is hooked up to the white wire at the motor needs to be able to accept +12v.

Does anybody know how I could accomplish this? I basically want to have my trunk always locked unless I push the release. That means that if anybody breaks into my car and opens the door locks, the trunk will stay locked and they will not be able to steal anything inside of it. (the seats don't fold down either, so the only way into the trunk would be a key or crowbar).

If the trunk is locked, you can open it with the key, is this correct?
