79 monte carlo, matrix 10.5x trunk sensor

As the subject states I have a 79 Monte Carlo with a Clifford Matrix 10.5x installed. It has started sending a false trunk sensor warning to the pager right after I arm the system. It also chirps a second time about 5 seconds after the first arming chirp. The weird thing is I don't even have the trunk sensor wire connected, because there's no trunk light.

I searched and found a couple of topics regarding this, but neither came to any conclusion. Any ideas what this could be?

Did you install the system yourself, or was it done by someone else? If you didn't do it yourself, do you know if the trunk input wire was used for anything else?

There can only be a few possibilities:

1. The trunk input has been used for something else, like a hoodpin switch or a glass-break sensor, and the switch/sensor is defective or misadjusted.

2. The sensor is OK, but the wire going to the sensor is shorted to ground (chafed, screw through it, etc.).

3. The wire wasn't used for anything, but when the installer cut the alarm's wire short, and taped it up, he taped it up in such a way that it's contacting another wire in the alarm's harness.

4. The installer ran the trunk input wire to the back of the car, anticipating that maybe you'd buy a trunk pinswitch later, but as of right now, the wire is just sitting there.....but it's come untaped and is sitting against the car body.

5. The brain is defective.

I would go for #5 as the last, most unlikely thing....check out all the other stuff first.

I know it's been a couple of weeks but I found the cause of the problem. Thanks for your help Chris, and I did install the system myself. I remembered that I installed a DEI 520T backup battery module right around the time the system started acting up.

So I disconnected the 520T modules' blue (-) output wire from the Matrix's H1/7 trunk input wire, and the alarm works fine now.

Is this the proper connection for the 520T's blue wire? What could I have done wrong on the install that would cause it to send false warnings to the alarm?
