My wife has an 881xp in her 1999 Saturn sl1. It has been in her car for a few years and now the remote start is no longer working. When you try to activate the remote start the key chain beeps and the exhaust icon lights. It then beeps again signaling remote start turnoff and the icon disappears. The lights on the car do flash during all of this.
All other functions of the alarm do work properly.
Any ideas on what to look for?

Does this unit not display some type of fail codes?

Get your owners manual out. It could be as simple as a faulty hood pin.
