I'm looking for help on removing the stereo deck to get at the keyswitch in order to install rs. Don't want to break dash trim pieces. Thanks

You don't need to get to the key switch. Everything you need is @ the BCM center console.

yes everything is at the bcm however make sure you get your accessory and ignition wires AT THE IGNITION SWITCH.  DEI notes said it was ok to get it at the bcm however after hours of the remote start not working and on the phone with dei they couldnt firgure out the problem i tried getting the wires at the ignition switch and it solved the problem.

I've done them successfully at the BCM (Saturn Aura too), but there are lots of pink and brown wires there.......took a lot of trial and error to find the ones that worked.

But the '06 Malibu, it's not hard to take the dash off.

I think there are a couple of 7mm screws underneath, like any other car. I think some of them have a black plastic panel under there too, above the driver's feet, that snaps off.

With the driver's door open, pop off the triangular panel on the side of the dash (the part that would be a fuse box cover, even though this car doesn't have a fuse box there), and there are two more 7mm screws behind there.

After that, the rest is just clips, and the lower dash pops right off.

The ignition wires look a little tight, but if you unplug them, there's enough slack to work.
