the diodes, you can pick up the 1N400X 1 amp series diodes. the diodes are used to prevent feedback  onto the BCM. The diodes are fairly cheap and can be picked up at any electronic store OR even radioshack. They are under 10 cents each.

Hello, fellow Camaro owner here. '96 white RS convertible.

I haven't gotten around to doing my own alarm install yet.....remote start season just finally quieted down.

Anyway, here's an excellent article, with plenty of photos, that should help you a lot:

https://www.bfranker.badz28.com/fbody/alarm.htm

P.S. The factory alarm can be disarmed ONLY by the factory remote.

As you probably know, it can be armed by locking the door from the door panel switch, before closing the door.

Your car's owners manual outlines a procedure to turn the factory alarm completely off.

On my car, I'm hoping to open up the factory remote, solder wires onto the microswitches inside............have my aftermarket alarm's lock/unlock outputs trigger relays.....and the relays will close the switches inside the remote.

That way, I'll have the protection of the aftermarket alarm, and the factory one too.
