Hi I am installing a crimestopper 900V in my grandmothers 1992 buick lasabre. I bought the resistor kit and have narrowed it down to needing the 2.37 one. My next question is where does this resistor get wired in to? I now this seems basic for somebut this is my new road block. If anyone can help me I'd appreciate it. thanks

I was told by a local person to find the two wires by the switch and cut them and install my resistor. Is this correct?

There is no need for any ignition bypass on a 92 buick.

My Bad!!!I guess that year has a vats system on it.Do a search here for vats diagrams and you should find everything you need.

prdjr165,

I tried the search but could not find a actual diagram of the resister being used. Thanks so much for giving me some advice

The way I hook these up with th relay is this:
term86.12 volts constant
term 85.gr out while running wire from r/start
term 87a.key side of cut yellow wire
term 30.ecm side of cut yellow wire
term 87.to groun ref wire with resistor in line (or/blk)or(WHITE/ blk).I'm not sure of your grond reference wire color,I'll do some more looking. If you don't have a relay you can permently bypass this system with the resistor soldered in between the ecm side of yellow wire and the other end soldered to the groun ref wire.

usually these wires are both white and in an orande tube running down the steering column, look for this orange tube and carefully slice it open and you should see the 2 white wires. It don't matter which one of the white wires you cut in half.

prdjr165,

Would this be the same thing for the 1992

Let me know.

P.s I have plenty of relays!

same diagram. measure the resistance and get close to it as possible. if you  DONT there is a chance of a lockout on your vats system or putting it into tamper mode.

Ok thanks for all your help I got it running, keyless entry works but I don't like how the starter sounds. It sounds like it is cranking too long. I know that there is a antigrind wire but I used that for the negative output on the relay for the vats bypass. It said that it could be used either or. Should I hook up the antigrind wire and hook up the negative output to something else? if so what? thanks for all your help.

anti-grind is not what your problem is-- your problem is "overcranking"  which method did you use "tachless" or "Tach monitoring"?  If tachless- you should try tach monitoring-- the anti-grind feature is so that you don't try to start the car (turn key to "start") when the car is already running.....

How do I use the tach monitoring mode?  My instructions say tachless and then say tach finder mode,(where i go around and locate a good AC signal) Do I do this and hook up that wire. Is that considered tach monitoring? thanks

you need to hook up the WHITE/ red tach wire to a good tach source,If you have a sheet with all the wireing info there should be a tach wire listed.you test the tach wire with a volt meter sey to a/c,the wire should read like 2 to 6 volts and fluctuate with higher rpm. After you find a good tach source and connect your WHITE/ red wire to it you need to use the tach finder mode to make sure the crimestopper unit reconizes this as a good tach source.Once that's done go back into programing and program the unit for tach.

On your car- attach the RED / white tach wire to the white wire coming out of the ignition module- then when you use "tach finder" the parking lites will flash if this is a good tach source-- then if that works- then program option 1 to "Tach Mode" -instead of "Tachless mode"    its that simple-----
