I have a 99 mustang w/a viper 550 esp. I bypassed the PATTS system by removing the pellet from my key and connecting it to the sensor around the ignition. The only thing is that I've noticed on cold mornings the car won't start. Is this b/c of the pellet getting cold or what? After I drive the car or on a warm day the remote start works fine. I know there are better ways of bypassing this system(555F) but I only have one key and I'm not forking out $70 for another one. Please help.

Use a PKF module.  I live in Montana, and even at -20 my Explorer still starts remotely every time.  Here is a link for one, the cheapes I have found.  These modules do not require use of a key.  But you do need two programmed keys to program the module.

Are you saying that you opened your only key and used it to bypass thr PATS permanently? What do you do when the thing freezes? Do you just sit there until the sun comes up?
