Hi all,
Just a quick question. Ive wired up my car alarm (hawk 260RS). Ive only got the engine start bit remaining. Done the wiring for all the engine start but havent connect the two green wires from the relay. In my diagram it says to connect to a high voltage coil. Just wondering could i connect this to my ignition wire? If i cut the wire and bridge the connection should that be ok?
Ive been told i can connect it to my ignition coil and fuel pump but am unsure on what wire to cut! so im thinking the ignition wire should suffice, but i dont want to cut it until im sure.

that HIGH VOLTAGE COIL is basically your starter motor. The diagram shows you to connect it to a relay, and using the relay to do a starter-kill. your kit should have came with a relay. The green or red comming off the relay can be switched for either key or motor side, no differance. heres a proper starter kill 85 - IMMOBILIZER output from alarm (-) or GROUND WHEN ARMED.
86 - ignition 1
87- N/C
87a - starter wire key side
30 - starter wire motor side

Man the way that sheet is written.... the terms and layouts. crazy! Prime example "high voltage coil" can't we call it what it is? What type of vehicle are you working on? Built in lock relays.... nice! -------------

hey tedmond..thanks for the reply man! Yeah my alarm did come with the relay and the only thing left is to connect the 2 green wires coming of the relay.
So you said "The green or red comming off the relay can be switched for either key or motor side"
87a - starter wire key side
30 - starter wire motor side
Just wanted to clarify. Is the starter wire the ignition wire? (sorry, im form the UK and we use different terms!)

I couldnt agree more! Why cant they call it what it is and make things much more simpler!
Im working on a VW Golf Mk3 by the way! Yeah the alarm is quite good. Got the standard shock and ultrasonic sensors and the remote locking works a treat! Dont have to wait in the rain and turn the key waiting for the car to lock! (its always raining in England!)

yes it is. The starter wire ar the ignition is the one you will break continuity on when you arm your car.

To d.spitz, Gary and Ted, Its not raining, I was stuck in a SNOWDRIFT this morning! Ans it was 70 on Friday, Ah April in E ngland N.B. Ted, High Voltage = Coil, high current = Starter Motor! N.B Mk IV an evil weavil to get at the ign cables, the boy done good!

My 2 cents on the "high voltage coil": either the chinese characters for "start" and "ignition" are the same, or the company that makes the alarm is idiotically suggesting that you interrupt the ignition wire from the switch with the relay.
I'm leaning more towards the first choice.
