we recently purchased a 97 plymouth voygar van and it came with a astrostart/astroflex j5f-tx2000 the old school soild green led light with the 6 buttons. everything works on it but the start button, when u hit it u can hear it engage in the vehicle but it dont go through the full engage of starting the vehicle, it gets to the point were the odometer comes on and then it just shuts off? i was just curious if anyone if familiar with this product and could give me some advice on were to start! any help would be great
You have located the brain.... correct? Go thru a remote start attempt then when it's done, on the brain itself there is an LED. It will flash a certain number of times. Count them
You say that lock/unlock work, but no start? I'm gonna guess hood pin. the unit will flash 5 times. Let me know.

yeah unlock/lock work just no start. i went through a start attempt and it was about 5 times yes
So, find the hood pin.... Make sure it grounds when the hood is open (wich is what the remote strart thinks is happening) and that there is NO GROUND when the hood is closed.
If you have the old magnetic style hood pin, you will need to replace it with a standard normal good old fashioned regular type nut and bolt style pin switch.
And then the wire that the hood pin is connected too you will need to put a 10 thousand ohm resistor in line on this wire. THEN hook it to
your new hood pin.
