Hello everyone, My name is Mykk and I just registered on this site yesterday. I found it to be extremely helpful while doing a push button start on my 2004 Silverado.

More on my truck:

Everything about the truck is on my cardomain, www.cardomain/id/o4silveradomykk

Onto my question: I have a Viper 771xv alarm,  and the appropriate passlock module for the remote start. It's been working flawlessly for a few years now.  Yesterday, (before the install of a push button start) I noticed the brain of my alarm- located under the drivers side dash- was hanging/ dangling by it's wire harnesses. So I tucked it it back up and attatch it to a dash support piece.

Now I lost the function of my remote start! I'm not sure what I would have changed, I didn't unplug anything and I double checked to make sure all the harnesses are still attatched. Anyone have any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated.

Onto problem two: Since the install of a push button start, ( purely athstetic & show, not to solve a ignition switch problem) I am having a Passlock II issue. I did do a search, and I've read about the different ways to bypass passlock. One is the use of a 555l module. But let me get your input please.

I installed the engine start button from a Honda S2000, I used a relay and I tapped into  the wiring from the Viper 771xv remote start satellite module that interupts the trucks original starter circuit at the switch.  The relay sends a switched +12v  into the green wire of the satellite module thus starting the car. Now you can begin to see my Passlock II issue.

If you turn the ignition key on, and push the button the egnine starts for a second and dies. However, if you turn the key on, than to "start" for a sec. Trigger the passlock II ( the three wires going to the ignition switch) and than push the "engine start" button everything will fire up and drive fine, for the exception that the passlock II light in the dash stays on constantly. I don't mind the added security step to start the truck, in fact I like it. But I'd like to rid of the light on the dash. I don't mind wiring a 555l module, I also read that you can simply just cut the yellow wire (of the three) going to the ignition switch? Or cut the yellow wire and tap into the black wire. Either of those options sound like a fail. Any input would be a appreciated

Problem #2: Wire up a relay that will engage the 555L from the push button start. This will activate the 555L and allow the vehicle to start without having to turn the key to the start position.

Thanks guys. Is the Passlock II looking for a +12v source?

The Passlock II is looking for an R-Code that will match the resistance in the key cylinder. Once it sees the proper R-Code at start, it will allow the vehicle to stay running. If it sees the wrong R-Code or no R-Code 2 or 3 times in a row, it will go into long tamper mode.
