hi i have the Canadian Tire Pro Start 3400 but now the computer is blown i guess if i unlock doors the trunk pops if i lock doors trunk pops remote start doesnt work anymore it pops the trunk and unlocks the doors i put 400v diodes on the remote starter wires to the replays of the trunk lock and unlock so voltage doesnt go back into the computer but that didnt work. are there other wires i need to put the diode on? and i read about quenching diodes but is that a diode thats built into the relay? or how does that work or what do i need to do since it talks about taking the voltage or what not is there any pics or anyone have details on what i did wrong or didnt do

hi i read the topic "whats ther reason to diode isolate" now i have a question since they showing images and saying its reversed since the remote starter is a trigger (-) does the diode go cathodide side (stripped) side to the trigger and the anode side(no stripe) to the 12 volt side or is it the other way around?

so i still not 100% sure since it talks about being reversed which one do i choose is it the 2nd option 12v to the anode side and the trigger to the cathode side since that be the reverse order i guess of the prostart? is that how id do it?

Bring it back to Canadian Tire. They will accept returns on almost anything.

ok ill try that return but still like to know which way em i to solder the diode in place from connector 85 and 86 since it is a (-) negative trigger from the remote car starter

Look at it this way. When you have a (-) trigger output from your alarm, you want your diode stripe away from your brain, because your alarm once armed,is looking for just a triggered input signal from that trigger ie. a pin switch. That explains the third diode down example.

ok so the brain is the car alarm i take it so then id use the 2nd option since the stripe goes the opposite direction for positive so that way it wont send power to the (-) trigger then right so i put the non stripped end on the trigger wire and the stripped size to the 12 volt relay 85 side correct?

If your vehicle requires diodes, you would place them on the wires from your relays that go to your lock/unlock and trunk release wires in your vehicle with the stripe side away from your alarm if your lock/unlock and trunk pop are (-) trigger. The wire from your alarm to the relay doesn't need a diode if i'm correct.

ah well my car is (+) polarity and the remote starter is (-) polarity so i have to use a relay so then for my situation ill solder a the diode from the trigger wire from the remote starter bare side and the relay side of 85 gets the stripe side correct?

I'm not sure what kind of car you have, but this sounds like an issue I had once installing a keyless entry system on a Pontiac G6 (pressing lock or unlock would pop the trunk).
The problem in that case was that I had the trunk switched wire on the car connected directly to the keyless module I was installing, and the module was putting out a small amount of current on the trunk release whenever anything was pressed, and that small current was enough that the car's BCM interpreted it as a "trunk switch" signal.
The solution was just to use a relay instead of the direct connection.

ah nah mine was working fine just the baby my friend has was clicking the remote control several times and i guess it back fed to the remote starter and burned it out even though i had diodes to go only one direction so i seen about supression diodes or whats the reason for them i seen and i guess i had it wrong u gotta jump the wire with a diode so i bought a replacement 3400 model from c-tire now they dont have the option for the flashing light and now it doesnt work either someone returned it faulty i guess or its a faulty one but i dunno if u get a warrenty if u install it urself
