I installed my alarm system myself thanks to alot of info from this site, but I'm having trouble w/ adding the 689m to the system. The remote start LED comes on as soon as I start the engine w/ my keys. From my understanding it's supposed to come on after you pul the E-brake w/ your foot on the clutch pedal. The remote start button shows remote start is activated on the remote, but the engine does not stay on nor the LED. When I open the door the dome light does not come on which I think is right. Does anybody have an easy to follow wiring stepby step of the 689m?

The 689 is not as easy to install as one would think.... When I installed that module it only lit up when the e-brake is engaged...Your relay must be setup wrong..... make sure the door trigger is a solid door trigger and not a dome light trigger.

Ok. I'll check the relay and find a door trigger.

Well I got it to do someting. When i try to put it in reservation mode I put my foot on the clutch then I pull the Ebrake, then let off the clutch, then press the remote button twice to get the remote to show the exhaust symbol. At that moment the doors unlock/lock at least 3 times then it stops. I remove the key and get out the car, leaving the door open at least 3 seconds before I close it. I then try to remote start the car nothing happends or appear on the remote for remote starting. If I do the same thing but keep my foot on the clutch after pulling the Ebrake then press the remote start button I can hear the starter hitting the flywheel as if it trying to start the car while I'm holding the clutch. The whole time the LED stays lit and only goes out when the engine is off and comes on when the car is started. Any ideas? I must have some wires crossed or something. Why does that damn LED stay lit?

Reservation mode should go as follow: No cluth pressing needed......what you need to do is engage the brake wire...after the light ls on you then remote start the car while the car is on.....remove the key and then open the door and wait three seconds....as soon as that is done then the car will shut down when you close the door...if it doesn't then you need to re do that relay and make sure the blue wire is actually getting ground when you remote start the car to make it easier list all the wires and state what you connected to it.

I'll Try that , but the light a guess your taking about the LED comes on as soon as the the car starts running. The brake can be up or down and the light just stays on until I remove the key. Once I did get it to flash, but I'm going to try what you said and state what I have connected.

DO NOT FOLLOW THE COLORS THAT THE INSTRUCTIONS STATE.... if you are following the color on the relay harness then your relay connection is wrong. Assuming 86 is white------------ connect to the brake pedal positive trigger Assuming 87a is red-------------connect to hand brake Assuming 30 is yellow-----------connect to gray wire on 689m Assuming 85 is black------------connect to dark blue wire with the diode and make sure the diode is connect in the proper direction Also make sure your tach signal is learned by turning on the car and holding the valet switch. It will go solid blue or red when it learned it. Remember the tach must be connected to 689m and 791xv module.

Dude you are a lifesaver. You were dead on about the relay it now works perfectly. I wish I could buy you a 12 pack or something. If you have Paypal I'll shoot you some change for your help. I think this tread will be very infomative to others who are going about the relay by the instructions that came with the 689m. Again thanks a lot.
