2006 ford taurus keyless entry

Hello all, I've researches on the forum's and it seems like many paople on here are really knowledgable. I also haven't found ant basic instructions for installing a keyless entry. I am a nebie so please be easy.

I have an 06 taurus SE, didn't come w/ factory keyless so I purchased a 12volt KE5520. I'm not really sure where to begin with it, ( do I need to get in where the fuse box is by the brake pedal, or is there a panel I need to take off, where should i put the box, do I need to crimp, solder?)

ANy help would be very appreciated or maybe there is a link w/ pictures?

I found the diagram, I was looking more for some very general advice.

Generally - I prefer soldering. Crimping works if you make sure your crimps are solid. T-taps and Scotchloks should be avoided.

I've usually done Tauruses of that style by removing:

1. The plastic trim on the driver's side door sill.

2. The main underdash trim piece((2) 8mm hex head screws).

3. The metal brace under that (2 more of the same screws, plus (2) 7mm hex screws for the OBD-II plug).

4. The gray plastic cover where the ignition switch wires are connected(this is a little tricky, the best way is to squeeze each pair of tabs(there are 4 pairs) that hold it with needle nose pliers, or move them with a pick, while exerting slight outward pressure on the cover.

Once those are done you can get at basically every wire you'll need, either in the ignition harness (12VDC constant and ignition), or in the harness to the rear(basically all others).
