Gentlemen, I am having a hell of a time programming my Omega Mitsu Transponder bypass. Just to give you some history on the setup:

I had the Viper 5701 professionally installed by a very reputable shop, two states away. In order to setup the transponder bypass, I needed both original keys but i forgot one at home. Rather than driving back just to program it, I told the tech to install everything and I will program it when I get home.

Yesterday, I spent a good portion of the day trying this, to no avail. I am a electrical engineer and therefore am somewhat tech savvy. So I pulled out my multi meter and started poking around. The transponder has two connectors, on is blue while the other is white. I noticed that when I try to use the remote start on the alarm, the blue connector receives ~10V (which I assume the alarms brain, powering up the transponder). When attempting to program the transponder, no power is supplied to the transponder via the blue connector.

I'm assuming that the reason why I can program the transponder is because it is not receiving power from the Alarm brain.   Am I on the right track here?   Should there be a way of telling the Alarm to power the transponder so I can register it to my car?   The 5701 is very new, and I having a hell of a time finding instructions on this.

Any help is appreciated.

What is the make/model/year of your Mitsubishi? The Omega bypass modules are made by Trilogix, also known as bypasskit.com. If you tell us which bypass you have someone may be able to shed some light on your particular issue.

The voltage you are reading on the blue connector might be just voltage leaking through a component in the bypass/or vehicle system. The bypass would typically have a constant source of +12V, possibly a constant ground, and a switched ground wire that gets activated by the remote start.

As far as the 5701 installation manual is concerned hopefully someone on the site can post it for you. DEI has a strict policy on distribution of their installation manuals and as such have specifically requested I no longer post any of their information on any sites.

You dont need the manual for the 5701 to program your Omega interface.  We need to know the model interface and trhe year/model vehicle.

Mitsubishi Transponder bypass

for 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII

As stated before, I can do song and dance to setup a new key with the system. the problem I think lies in powering the the Omega transponder.

Twelvolts, you mentioned that the 12 volts I am seeing is a switched ground that is activated by the remote start, could this be what powers the transponder?   Logically speaking, the transponder has to have some sort of switch that turns it on ONLY when the remote start is activated by the alarm, or else what would be the point of having an immobilizer if it is always bypassed? If this is true, maybe the transponder has to be powered before I can try mating it to ignition system.

Thanks

its a GROUND WHEN RUNNING wire that triggers the bypass when you remote start only.  To program, you dont always need to actuivate it. As long as there is power and ground, the bypass can be programmed by ignition sequence OR the program button on the unit itself.

Just a trick. Because I'm not an octopus, I temporarily attach the diesel wait-to-start input of DEI systems to ground. This permits me to power up ignition during programming modules by using the start button on the remote.

I finally got this working yesterday. I had to physically take apart the Transponder housing and get it as close as possible to the key barrel. Took about 45 mins of trying to get it to work.
