unlock both doors when one door opens

I have a 2002 Ford Ranger 4-door (2 real doors, and flip out rear doors). When I bought the truck it had power nothing. I have added in power windows, mirrors, and the last thing I added on was power locks. I had a AutoPage RS-727LCD with 2-wire power locks installed. When I start the truck, both doors lock, and thats fine. I would like to add in factory switches, which I can figure out the wiring on that, but I don't want to have run more wire across the truck and intro the doors. Along time ago, I had an A-1 electric kit, and when I opened one door, both would unlock, those were 5 wire locks, and they quit working after some time.

Basically what I want to know, is there any way to make one lock since what the other is doing, and follow it. If not, can I add in a 5 wire lock and wire it up, or would it be easier to wire in the switch and run wire again.

Ok, I understand that you want to wire in factory switches, with a minimum of wiring, but what else?

Are you saying that when you open the driver's door (from the inside, with the handle), you need the other door to unlock too? That could probably be done, but would be a bit complex.

As far as adding the switch(es), that shouldn't be too hard.

Somewhere, most likely under the driver's dash somewhere, are two relays. The lock and unlock outputs from the Autopage would be connected to the relays.

The factory switches should probably have three wires (more if they're lighted).

You'd still have to run the wires from the switch(es) from the doors to the inside of the truck, but that should be about it.

You'd take whichever is the common wire from the factory switch, and wire it to ground.

The other two wires from the switch, you'd connect them to the Autopage's lock and unlock wires. Make temporary connections at first, in case you get the two wires backwards.

What if I did something like this

and wired the switch inline with the inputs from the alarm, with a diode installed before the switch so no current ran back to the alarm.

The switches are also 4 wire, but they should not be hard to figure out what does what, power in, ground in, and the other 2 change polarity depending on which way the switch is pressed.

maybe it is edited, add in car stereo .com to make the image work.

This way I could tap into the wires under the dash to add the relays, and might only have to run 1 or 2 wires for the locks.
