I just piked up a 1995 Kia sportage with an engine problem. The battery was dead so I charged it up and the entire electrical system works great; even the stereo system! The only problem is the electronic door locks don't work so I checked the fusebox and the fuse is OK! Then, I discovered a Compustar CM-3300 under the dash! I found the key remote in the ashtray and when I hit the lock button, nothing happens. A blue light blinks from the remote when I hit a button, so I assume the battery in the remote is good. Is there a fuse in the system to check? I tried toggling the ignition switch 5 times fast within 3 seconds then hit the lock button on the remote and nothing happens. What am I doing wrong or right? Can anyone help me to get it working? Thanks!! TC

Yes, the alarm system should be fused. Also check to make sure the antenna is plugged in. However that shouldn't effect the power door locks.

Thanks for responding Kevin. The antenna is plugged in and I couldn't find the alarms fuse. I'll go back out and look again. Thanks!TC

If you can't lock and unlock the doors from the Driver door switch then programming the remote to try to lock and unlock is going to be useless. Make sure you switch is plugged in all the way.
When you key the igniton 5 times fast. Did you hear a relay trigger? A clicking noise in the dash (like your turn signals)?

I found the fuses and they're good, then I found the wire chart on the brain and traced all the wires. Everything is connected properly except the 12V constant red wire after it comes out of the fuse. It has a male connector on it and nothing visible to plug it into. Where should it go? Or, should I run a red wire from the battery through the firewall to this connector with a compatible female connector? Thanks!! TC

Well, I ran a red wire to the battery, through the firewall and plugged the 12V constant to it and it worked!!! WizKid

I've been called many things in my life, but I don't think I've ever been called "Kevin". Now I can mark that one off my list. Since my boss started calling me "Sparkles" today as a joke, I think I like yours better.  Congrats on getting the alarm system to work. But I doubt it fixed your door switch issue. You should do as suggested above and make sure the door switch is plugged in.

Yes, your right! The power door locks do not work. I pulled the door panel off and found that their is no door lock solenoid installed! There is, however, a plug in for one to be there and the lock pull says auto lock. And there is a 30 amp fuse in the power door lock fuse position. Everything in the door looks mechanically operated. I'm gonna look up a diagram on the web to see if I'm just an idiot or what!
