My sister bought this van and it came with one remote that I have never seen. She lost the remote and we can't start the van. It seems that the Passlock lll is wired into the vans harness up in the dash someplace. The ring around the cylinder has 4 wire comming out. A BLACK wire that reads GROUND and a PINK wire that reads 12 volts and a ORANGE wire that also reads 12 volts and a PURPLE wire that reads nothing with the key in any position. The 2 12 volts wires show 12 volts without turning the key. Is there a way to bypass this system so that we can start the van?
Thank You in advance

The van has passkey 3...which is transponder based. As long as you are using a programmed key the van will start, so I doubt the pk3 is the problem. What did the fob she lost look like? Was it some kind of active immobilizer ( where she had to hit a button on the fob to turn off immobilizer) or was it some kind of passive system. I would first check under the dash, and make sure there isn't some kind of starter kill hooked up, check the yellow wire coming from the key cylinder...if it's cut, then splice it back together. if not, then I would look under the hood in the main fuse box and look for any relay that is different from the others....should have a wire coming out of it.....if this is the case, then you will have to buy a relay to replace this one.

There are no wires spliced into the main harness. These wires disappear into a harness located up high in the dash. I didn't find any unit under the dash.posted_image I hope this pjcture comes out.

I think that vehicle might have had a DEI Smart Starter Kill Relay installed. Call an auto parts place and tell them you need a new relay for the starter that goes into the main fuse panel under the hood. Then check the fuse box for a diagram for where it would be in there and replace with the new one and that may solve your problem.
Those smart starter kills have a receiver built in to allow the vehicle to disable the starter or to allow it to work.

The wire I'm test'n isn't doin' what it's supposed to be doin'... I am so glad I printed that tech sheet, with the wrong info.

Does the van still attempt to turn the starter over ? Is the PASSKEY light ON in the dash when trying to start ?

If there's no starter when cranking it's a starter relay problem. If the starter cranks and doesn't catch, then it's an immobilizer problem.

Sorry for not getting back sooner. It was the relay that techman93 said. best of all it they left it in the glove box and nobody knew what it was. So THANK YOU very much for your help. As always the help given here is always correct.

Glad I could direct you to a solution without you pulling your hair out and setting the van on fire. posted_image
