The following steps should help.

1. Stop typing in all caps - it's annoying and against the forum rules.

2. Quit freaking out - if you mean "taking a customer's car to the dealership" for them to bypass the immobilizer for remote start, that'd be a stupid thing to do anyway because the dealer won't help you.

If you mean for a deployed airbag or other severe damage, basic install precautions will pretty much prevent that.

If you mean for a check engine light, you can disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and it will go away.

3. More information about the specific BMW year and model you're trying to do an install on would be helpful. I'd suggest using the vehicle wiring search tool at the top right. If that doesn't give information, go to Bypasskit's web site and search for your vehicle. Assuming they list the 556U or any TBK model bypass as options, you should be allright. If they don't list any of those then I would recommend telling your customer you can't do this install.

4. If Bypasskit or Directed's wiring info for the car says a 556U will work, look in the 556U's instruction manual(available here if you don't have it) for the alternate wiring method that says "This method WILL work on European vehicles." Using that method with the 2-wire factory transponder antenna will work to bypass the immobilizer on your vehicle.

sorry about the caps......was in a rush and leaving work at the time.  thanks

It does not matter as it is just connecting a loop. Pick a wire. I don't cut the factory wires, just strip them back....

I don't believe that will work - I'm pretty sure that you have to actually cut one of the wires and connect BLACK/ red & BLACK/ white to the side facing the factory antenna ring, and black to the side facing away from the antenna ring.

There was a Directechs document about this method of install a few years ago when I did a lot of their products; I think it was 1056 or 1060. Unfortunately it's not uploaded to this site, and I no longer can login to Directechs. It would be wonderful if someone would upload it (hint, hint). Said document specifically told you which of the 2 wires should be cut and connected to.

However since there are only 2 wires it shouldn't be hard to figure out which one via trial and error if it even really matters which one you use.

That's the one I was looking for...it looks like it doesn't matter which wire you use after all.

Weird too that I didn't find it searching for BMW? I guess the download search tool is probably case sensitive.

If you have issue with the bypass..... try this.

BMW part# 66-008362278 factory transponder ring. $30.00. cut one of the factroy transponder wires take the ring side of that wire to pin 87a, and the other side to pin 30.

The new transponder ring... take one of the wires to the factory rings wire that was NOT cut, and the other to pin 87 on your relay. 12V to 86, and trigger with ground while running on 85.

take a valid key and center it in the ring......tape the crap out of it. Make sure to center the key.....you don't want to have to take off all that tape to fix the postion of the key. This works

If thack would RTFM "section of 556U manual, European cars," all questions would be answered, I'm still waiting for year and model because its VERY relevant. The next question will be askibng why he's done all that and it stil won't fire up, ah well treat the purple acc of the car as a 2nd ignition. By the way what caps Chris? He wasn't using them in his first post.

its a BMW 2001 325

Sorry i know in my experience when someone wants a radio with free standard installaion (ie Circuitcity) I definately have done some cars that didnt seem to be so standard. So when i see "universal", and i havent done a BMW before, i would like some assuarance before i go ahead and cut up someones car then some system locks the igintion out or something, My question may have seemed elementary, but i have no experience with BMW but with your help i will.  I guess when i use the search feature certain words give you certain topics and the posts i read didnt make me very confident.

thanks for the change in case letters

great idea. will get an extra ring for the next car. thanks kartune

The 556 U works fine with the E46, that's why I asked what model, but you must use the GREY VALET key. Get the owner to buy it if he doesn't have one. If you'd have checked previous posts on the subject E46, I showed a quick and clean (only one panel drop) way of doing them quite recently.
