I've just installed a deck into a 95 VW Golf, when I took the power wire off the battery and put it back on the horn and engine disable kicked in, the customer bought the car used and doesn't have the factory remote. How do I disable this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First. You can turn off alarm with OEM TX or key in driver's door.

Secondly, make sure that the BROWN / red or BROWN / white at the radio isn't connected to ground or anything else. It should be cut and hanging in mid air. This is usually the first wire in the same plug as the power at the radio.

i have a 97 golf, its possible to goto a vw dealership and get a remote made, or you put the key in the drivers door, and turn it to the left, that will disable the alarm, to the right arms it

as far as i know the alarm cant just be disabled, but im not exactly sure, as long as the locks work, turning the key to the left in the drivers door will work

There are several ways to disable it.

1) After the system has been sucessfully disarmed, ground the OEM hoodswitch to fool the system into thinking the hood is open. This will keep the system from auto-arming.

Or

2) Go behind light switch and pull out the two plugs from the anti-theft module. You'll need to bypass the starter wire. RED / black if my memory serves me correctly.

Big dog is right but an alternative would be not to pull the plugs, if there is an ignition stand off wire in one of those plugs, cut it and wire the alarm module end to the permanent feed, this will fool it into thinking the ignition is on without drawing enough juice to damage anything.
