I recently bought a 2000 Dodge Stratus ES 2.5 ltr. at a police auction. The car came with no keys. Does any body know how to bypass the sentry key system? I don't want to pay the dealership $$$ for new keys if the car doesn't run. I was a technician for about 5 years. Just don't know how the system operates to disable. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Not all Stratus's from 2000 came with a Sentry key. I would stop by a Dodge dealership with a copy of the title and tell them what happened. Ask them if they can look up the VIN to determine if it came with a Sentry key. If it did come with the Sentry key, you'll have to pay them to make some keys. If it didn't, call a locksmith. They should be able to make you a key for cheaper.

Sentry needs two valid keys to program a new key. Without keys the car has to be hooked out to a computer and a new key has to be entered that way. Unfortunately if that software was commercially available, the whole point of sentry keys would be pointless. So the only was is to get an authorized mechanic/technician to do it.
