Hey Everyone,
I have a 1998 Mercury Mystique, 4 Cyl, that does NOT have a Factory Immobilier, because it was made in Feb. 1997, but its technicaly a 1998 model car.
I have a Boa Remote Start with Keyless Entry (Model 265B).
Now, whenever i start my car with the remote start, it starts up fine, runs for 30 seconds, then shuts down... i cant figure out why it keeps shutting down after 30 seconds...
Can someone here help me out a little?

Are you sure it doesn't have an imobilizer? Sounds like one to me

Yes, i'm possitive, because it last year it used to work fine, but all of a sudden the car started to shut down after 30 seconds.
Plus i called ford, and they checked for me, and they said it dont have one.
I'm totaly lost as to what is happening.

Is there a tach wire hooked up? If so, then it probably just needs to be re-programed. It should be programed by turning the car on, and then immediately pushing the program button for 3 to 5 seconds. If it programs properly, then the led and/or parking lights will flash to confirm this.

Wow, the things I forget..... I agree with Fuzion on that... Check the wire, make sure it's still connected, then try to re program it

Yea, good point. If you can, before reprogramming tach, check the tach wire with a multimeter. See the thread in this forum about general tach comments if you're not sure how to do that.

The car wouldn't start at all if it had an immobilizer. So you're all set there.
As the others said, if you have tach hooked up, try to reprogram it.
Note that the Boa units have volatile memory. That is, if they lose power (as when the car's battery dies, or you remove the battery to replace it), everything has to be programmed again.

Okay, well i got it fixed!
I was using the Voltage Feature, instead of the Tach Wire, so i just hooked up the tach wire, and it works fine so far :)

It turns out what was happening, was the remote start checked for the voltage increase from the alternator, and i guess because my radiator fan is electric, and between that and my A/C Fan, it was making the voltage decrease too much... so now that im using the tach. wire, its working alot better now :)
