I bought an '01 Mustang about two months ago and I was able to enjoy the luxury of finally having remote locks, trunk release, alarm, and, of course, REMOTE START!  It was incredible.  And then, about two weeks ago, my remote start just simply stopped working!  Every other function still works--just not remote start.  The signal sends to the car, because my radio will flicker and the time will be displayed sometimes.  The screen displays the usual "Start" text underneath and the remote beeps, but the engine doesn't seem to want to start up.

Any idea what's wrong?  Any solutions?

The remote start is a Viper; the FCC ID is EZSDEI478.  The RPN is 479V/P/X

is one of two things a bad tach signal or a transponder bypass problem if you have no experience in car electronics I would recommend you to take it to an authorized viper dealer and have them take a look but is either the tach wire or the car is not seen the bypass trying doing this, put the key in the ignition but DON'T turn it and then try to remote start if it starts then the transponder is the problem if not is the tach

I agree. Take it to an experienced shop. RS/alarms/keyless is definitely not something a novice should attempt.
