So I tried directechs relay and resistor and it's a no go.It will remote start for about 5 min. then it won't even try to crank over.I've searched the forum and found tom small's write up about wiring a relay and using the key but I was wondering if anybody has used a bypass module or is this the only way?  I'd rather not have to install the key and solder wires to it.Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Please Help !!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok so I had someone tell me that you need the key fob for it to work and you can get it for about $40-$50 at the dealership. So I'll have to place the key under the dash and solder wires to it like explained in the tom small write up.Anybody have experience with this ?????

I own an '04 GTO although I've not put a remote start on it - I did mess around with the immobilizer wiring to figure out what I'd need to do to bypass. Basically I've come down to 3 ideas.

1. The keyless entry receiver is on the top of the dash between the vents. If you could simulate an analog remote "unlock" signal on the wire from there to the BCM prior to start that would get around the need for using a key behind the dash.

2. Disassemble the BCM and figure out where you could tap a disarm wire onto a trace.

3. Use the method you're describing with a key. If you unscrew and remove the key shaft you'll see a ring terminal coming out of the remote. That will need to be grounded. You will also need to solder to the nipple that sticks out of the remote head. That nipple should go to 87 on your relay, 30 will go to the wire at the key ring(I think it's PURPLE / red or PURPLE / orange).

Unfortunately there are no nice simple bypass modules for this car - I'm guessing b/c it's such a low volume car sold in primarily warm climates.

PM me or check out LS1GTO if you need programming procedures - I'm pretty sure they are available on that site or in my owners manual.
