Installed audiovox remote start and alarm combo into 2008 toyota camry. Everything works fine but now when you try to start the car with the key it takes two to three times before the car turns over. I did not install a starer kill, the car is factory equiped with one as well as an alarm.

looh at you main ign wiring, is the plug all the way into the ign switch, the star wire is small, did you break it ? etc. Will the car start with the remote starter every time or does it suffer the same symtom?

Also sounds to me that the by-pass unit fitted may be either wired wrong in one way or another? or defective.smcshark is also quite correct about the ign switch plug. My experience with them tells me that all Toyota/Lexus plugs have to be "rammed" home.

Apologies, I meant also that if the by-pass uses a key, that key may not be in the absolutely correct position in the by-pass and moving it around slightly might help.

You didnt tie into the small 12v key cyl wire for power did you? If so you probably blew the fuse for it. That would cause a no key start.

You need to tell us what bypass. The times it won't start is the factory alarm light flashing or does it go out?

Yes, the remote start works perfectly all the time.

I used a dei 556uw and i think i connected all the wires correctly red to 12v, black to ground, blue to neg status output. when the car is locked and the factory security light is on and you unlock the car with aftermarket remote and try to start the car with key the first time the ignition just grinds but the second time it will start. when you unlock the car with aftermarket remotes the factory security light is still blinking even with the key in the ignition.

This is what happens if you use the wrong unlock wire. What is happening is you are sending a pulse to the door switch wire to unlock the door but it isn't turning off the factory alarm. Inserting the key and trying to start without disarm first will lead to just cranking. The second time you try the keysense has turned it off so it starts. What are you using for unlock? It should be a gray wire in a plug in the kickpanel(door wires) and it should require one pulse for drivers unlock and a second for the rest. Connect both the green and the RED / black wires together to this and program the unit to 2 step unlock.
