I have a 2004 Silverado and the alarm system activates intermittantly by itself. With the doors unlocked and the alarm system "off", the doors will lock themselves and the alarm will sound for about 1 minute. My remote will not deactivate the alarm once it has sounded. This problem occurs intermittantly every few hours and sometimes once every couple days.
It first started when I was on vacation so I know its not my remote.
My first thought is the Body Control Module.
I would appreciate some input.
Thanks,
Dave
is there any aftermarket alarm or remote starter system installed ?
If so remove it and see what happens. If not then you may in fact be looking at a BCM issue, I will investigate further... It is odd that the truck locks and re-arms itself, this can only be done a couple of ways.
OEM remote
door lock switch in one of the doors
key cyclinder switch in either door, also it dis-arms by any of those 3 ways. why the OEM remote will not allow to turn the alarm off however is important. That seems to point to a BCM problem, that ='s $$$$. I wonder though all the wires to are diss-arm and trigger the alarm are located in the doors in the switch module for the locks and power windows, any chance there is water damage or other physicall damage to either the wires or the module(s) You will have to check both doors.
