1991 Bmw 325ix 5spd
Compustar p2w9000

Having trouble with the remote start and I'm pretty sure it's the tach wire. I tapped into the tach wire at the speedo. It's the black wire coming out of the blue harness. Apparently the compustar doesn't like this wire because when I have it "learn" the tachometer signal, it gives an error. I'm sure I'm connected to the tach wire, but the compustar expects a tach wire that has increasing voltage as the rpm's increase. The voltage on this tach wire decreases as the rpm's increase.

Any suggestions?

Go to an injector at the motor

Test a black wire at the diagnostic plug under the hood on the pass. side. It is also a black wire.

compustar has a revised software for these reasons. Check out the tech bulletins on compustar.com in dealer support.
