Hi guys,

So I have been trying to install power locks into my 04 ranger... Got the alarm set up and its pushing the actuators just fine, then got the drivers door off, mounted the actuator, linked it up to the factory lock bar, pressed the button - nothing...

I know that the actuators are working, as I tested them prior to mounting, but it seems like they don't have enough power to push the bar up and down?

Is it my actuator? My alarm? My mounting angle? Is this normal?

Thanks!

Are you using relays to get power to the actuators?

Yes, using relays to power the actuators. I used the schematic given by the alarm manual to run them, but I may try this one to see if it is a better fit in the system:

Otherwise, does this normally happen, or are they just not getting enough juice to give the "umph"?

I am assuming you have a green and a blue wire on the actuators.  Apply 12 volts to the blue wire and briefly touch the green wire to ground.  If this does not make the actuator move or attempt to move, you need to reverse the wires.  Apply 12 volts to the green wire and briefly touch the blue wire to ground.  One of the above situations should make the actuator move.  If it does not move, losen the screws that attach it to the lock rod, try it again.  Let us know what you find out.
