i am thinking of bring in the Idatalink pieces this season as opposed to the Trilogix/DEI units... the Idata are quite a bit more expensive...  is this hike in price justified?   or am i better off just sticking with the Trilogix pieces?

Most are good, some have small issues. You failed to mention Fortin www.ifar.ca . I solely use Idatalink and Fortin. They cover everything I need. I dont use any DEI/Trilogix products since they cant figure things out and refuse to acknowledge problems.

I prefer Fortin and Idatalink as well. With those two companies you cover all vehicles that can be covered. Good tech support as well. With Idatalink stuff you will tend to find that you will NEVER need TWO modules in order to complete an install. FYI

i agree with those that go with the Fortin and iDataLink products. Purchasing one unit alone is more expensive, but if your a shop owner, then wholesale price is amazing. i used to work at a shop downtown and the cost of getting a KEY-OVERIDE-ALL was 30 dollars canadian. and other vehicle specific are 15 bucks.

I would agree I like the idata stuff alot we do use the dei stuff ,sometimes its good and sometimes your catching wires all over the place which sucks.  We had some sucess with the xk01 but alot of crap with the xk05.  I used some fortin stuff with really no problems,  We have had the least problems with the idata,   I think idata makes stuff stamped for code alarm (audiovox) and I think fortin makes stuff  stamped for autopage Im not 100% on that.   With the downloading feature, to have it work for many vehicals is great.  You can buy fewer units keeps cost down

fcss, Fotin is used by many companies, but mainly compustar. As for iDataLink, i see their products are slowly merging into the compustar line, but i think they are originally branded for no one but themselves.

Directed's 1100 series... was made by Idata for Directed which they are now phasing out..... i am looking at it from an ease of install and reliability standpoint, not cost really.....
