Hi I am trying to hookup the alarm so that when the car is started I can use another output to activate the rear/mirror defrost. The alarm is a Prostart CT-5010. I should also mention the only aux I have left is a "constant while two buttons are held down" or "push once and will stay active for 30 seconds then shut off". Is this possible? And is the best place for me to tap into the defrost behind the switch itself? I was thinking that I could just hook into the wire behind the swtich and then use the aux where it is active while you hold it, then I could quickly push and let go of the two buttons and would that not then just be like pushing the defrost switch quickly which will turn it on and put it on the defualt timer? Also if I could set this up so that that option will only work when the car is started that would be ideal as well. Thanks in advance everyone.

Hello Everyone, I hooked up the Prostart CT-5010 and I got everything to work properly except for the rear defrost and the parking lights. I have it hooked up to the parking lights correctly however I noticed that the parking lights are actually a different set of lights that the lights that are used for the factory keyless entry. The parking lights option flashes a dimmer flash of the orange lights in the front and the red lights in the back and the little orange side markers do nothing, I should note the guage and stereo lights also flash at the same time with the parking lights (I am assuming this is normal). The factory keyless entry does not flash anything inside the car and flashes a brighter flash of the two orange lights in the front and two orange lights in the back and the two orange side markers on the car (looks way better). If possible I would like to tap into this and use it instead of the parking lights wire. I think they are the same lights that are on when the 4way emergency flashers are on. If this is possible which wire would I tap into and would it be a pos or neg system? Thanks again in advance everyone.

There is a BLACK/ green behind the radio that will require a negative pulse (one second) to trigger the rear defrost.

Parking light trigger is negative BLACK/ white at the switch harness.

Thanks for the info on the defrost. As for the parking lights I did find the actual parking lights wire but I am looking for the system that is being used by the factory keyless entry which is not the parking lights, I believe it is the 4way flashers? Any ideas?

To hook something up so that it only works while the car is started isnt there a ground while running wire? I am correct in my thinking about what this wire is used for?

I have verified for sure the lights that are flashing are the 4way hazard flashers when you lock/unlock the factory keyless entry system, so does anyone know how I would tap into the 4way flashers with my alarm instead of using the parking lights?

I say do it the way you have the technical support to do so. Use the parking lights like EVERYONE else. The rear defrost..... just don't trigger it unless the vehicle is remote started. simple. I understand you want to do it, is the way you want to do it.... but! Remember, ground while running is triggered a split second or 2 BEFORE remote start, stay's activated until a split second or 2 AFTER run time... It has limited application. -------------
