I just put a autopage keyless entry in 08 ford crown vic..cop car. Everything works, but the cop needed to be able to lock and unlock it with the car running. So I disconnected the ignition wire to allow this, but now the led doesn't work. Does the ignition wire need to be hooked up in order for the led to work or no? Any ideas, if it does need to be attached, how to go about letting the car lock and unlock whether its running or not? Thanks.

The ignition probably is necessary for LED and programming purposes - you could probably just wire a toggle switch inline on it to turn it off when the cop needs to get out and lock with it running.

Ya I thought about that, but if the cop needs to bail out of his car in a hurry..hes doesn't need to worry about switching a toggle switch every time he bails out of his cruiser. So I just left it disconnected. Any ideas how to hook up the led another way to work with the ignition wire disconnected?

I'm having a hard time understanding why the LED is important at all? If you just needed the ignition for programming, you could substitute "normally open momentary switch" for "toggle switch" in my previous post.

Ya I guess its not really important. The cop just wanted it to work, but without the ignition it won't work I guess, and hooking up a toggle switch would be pointless. Thanks for the reply though.
