I'm having an issue with Viper 210V GPS units in new cars that use a single negative alternating pulse for both door lock and unlock. The 210 outputs a dual pulse signal, which DEI tells me cannot be changed. This is fine for multiple wire and multiplexed systems, but for single wire central locking such as is found on the Porsche Cayman and BMW Z4, it's something of a pain.
Anyone have a circuit or relay option to trap the second pulse?

post a schematic of the 210v unit. Im suprised your unit doesnt have a single negitive output. Funky dude. Write a letter. LOL ------------- "dont ground out!"

Unfortunately DEI doesn't release schematics that I'm aware of. It's a simple option relay box that handles lock/unlock and starter kill functions. I asked DEI if the unit could be programmed to do single pulse, and they told me it's dual only. So, I need to roll a custom solution of some sort.

You may also be able to use a DEI pulse timer and diode isolate the lock and unlock wires together. Set it up so that once the first pulse fires the time delay relay energizes for 1 second. Have it interupt the signal between the unlock output and the cars lock/unlock wire. The "side effect" of this would be that if you hit the button again it would miss the next pulse, but if you only cut the "UNLOCK" out and not the "LOCK" out then the lock pulse would still work - meaning they would have to hit the lock button twice in 1 second before a pulse would be ignored. I would say that would be worth a shot. ------------- Kevin Pierson

I agree it's not proper. I believe their thinking was a dual pulse box would work well enough with both dual pulse systems, and single pulse multi-wire systems. The problem is when you get into single wire systems that use the same pulse for lock and unlock. What I can't believe is that they didn't make the unit programmable, or do dual pulse via an optional relay box.
To clarify a bit-- this is a GPS system that's semi-independent if the actual alarm system. I'm just using the unlock pulse from the 210 in an "if all else fails" method of unlocking the doors, and them problem I have is that with certain single wire systems, sending an unlock command will unlock, and then relock the doors given the dual pulse problem.
Looks like I'm going to have to look into a microcontroller solution. I only need a few of them at present.
Also, I had thought of using a delay timer relay, however the only such relays I've been able to find (from McMaster) have a fairly large form factor that isn't really ideal for certain applications. A small chip and epoxy blob that could be zipped to a harness would be the ideal way to go for me.
